Growing up in Pakistan, I was always aware of the struggles faced by those whose fundamental human rights were violated. From religious minorities to victims of domestic violence, I witnessed the challenges many individuals faced when their rights were ignored or trampled upon. This inspired me to pursue a career in human rights law, where I can work to protect the rights of vulnerable and marginalized groups in Pakistan.
I began my journey in human rights advocacy through my college’s Human Rights Club, where I participated in campaigns focused on raising awareness about issues such as child labor, forced marriages, and religious persecution. I also took part in various internships with NGOs that work on human rights issues, where I gained valuable insights into the legal challenges faced by human rights defenders and the strategies employed to promote legal protections.
My law-related coursework and experience in moot court competitions have further solidified my interest in human rights law. I am particularly drawn to the intersection of international human rights law and Pakistan’s domestic legal framework. I believe that by strengthening legal protections for individuals and advocating for better enforcement of human rights standards, I can contribute to a more just and humane society.
By pursuing a legal education, I aim to become a lawyer who can make a tangible difference in the lives of those whose rights are violated. I am excited to work toward advancing human rights in Pakistan and beyond.
