Distinctions of Sahabah Karam
The Sahaba (Companions) were the Muslims who lived during the era of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) and were blessed with his company. Many individual Sahabis were given unique titles and are remembered for specific achievements.
Titles and Distinctions
- Hazrat Abu Hurairah (RA) quoted the maximum number of Ahadis among all the Sahabis.
- Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA) is called 'Imam-ul-Ummat.'
- The title 'Imam-ul-Hadit' was given to Hazrat Kharash Bin Umayyah (RA).
- Hazrat Abu Ubaidah Bin Al-Jirrah (RA) was given the titles 'Amin-ul-Ummat' and 'Saif-ul-Islam.'
- Hazrat Sabit Bin Qais (RA) enjoyed the title 'Khatib-e-Rasool Ullah.'
- Hazrat Ali (RA) was given the title 'Zulqasnain' and is also called 'Bab-ul-Ilm' and 'Najeeb-e-Islam.'
- Hazrat Umro Bin Al-As (RA) is referred to as 'Syed-ul-Muslimeen.'
- Hazrat Khalid Bin Walid (RA) enjoyed the title 'Islami Shehsawar' (the Horseman of Islam).
- Hazrat Talha Bin Abdullah (RA) was given the title 'Fayyaz' during the Battle of Hunain, and was also granted the title 'Khair' during the Battle of Uhad.
- Hazrat Abu Ayab Ansari (RA) is called 'Maizban-e-Rasool' (the Host of the Prophet).
- Ibn-e-Abbas (RA) held the title 'Tarjuman-ul-Quran.'
- Hazrat Usamah Bin Zaid (RA) was called 'Hub-e-Rasool Ullah.'
Firsts and Notable Roles
- Among a group of tested figures, Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA) was the first to accept Islam.
- Hazrat Umro Bin Al-As (RA) accepted Islam at the hands of the Najashi (King of Habshah/Abyssinia).
- Rafeh Bin Malik (RA) was the first person from the Ansaar to embrace Islam.
- Hazrat Saad Bin Abi Waqqas (RA) laid the foundation of the city of Kufah, and is also remembered as the Muslim general who conquered Iran.
- Hazrat Umar (RA) was the Sahabi who migrated to Madinah with an open declaration.
- Zubair Bin Awwam (RA) was the Sahabi who shot the first arrow in the name of Islam.
- Hazrat Hasaan Bin Sabit (RA) was the first Sahabi to write Naat in praise of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ).
- Hazrat Samiah (RA) was the first Muslim woman martyred in the way of Islam.
- Hazrat Khalid Bin Saeed (RA) wrote down the first revelation (Wahi).
Battles and Martyrdoms
- Hazrat Khalid Bin Walid (RA) broke nine swords during the Battle of Mautah.
- Hazrat Masaab Bin Umair (RA) was the standard bearer of Islam during the Battle of Badr.
- Hazrat Abn Umme Maktoom (RA) led the prayers in Madinah in the absence of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) during the Battle of Badr.
- Seven sons of the Muslim woman Ufra Binat Ubair participated in the Battle of Badr.
- Hazrat Zaid Bin Harith (RA) was appointed Commander of the Muslim forces during the Battle of Mautah, the same battle in which Hazrat Jaffar Tayyar (RA) was martyred.
- Hazrat Hamza (RA) laid down his life during the Battle of Uhad.
- Hazrat Ali (RA) conquered the fort of Qamas during the Battle of Khyber.
- Hazrat Jaffar Bin Abi Talib (RA) had a great physical resemblance to the Holy Prophet (ﷺ).
Other Facts
- At the time of the Holy Prophet's (ﷺ) death, there were forty-two Hufaz-e-Quran (memorizers of the Quran).
- Ten Sahaba-e-Karam were given the good news of Paradise (the Ashra Mubashara).
- Hazrat Khalid Bin Walid (RA) embraced Islam in 8 A.H.; his Kunniyat was Abu Sulaiman.
- The Kunniyat of Hazrat Salman Farsi (RA) was Abu Abdullah.
- Hazrat Hatib Bin Abi Mutar (RA) carried the Holy Prophet's (ﷺ) letter to the Ruler of Egypt.
- Hazrat Khalid Bin Walid (RA), Hazrat Umro Bin Al-As (RA), and Hazrat Usman Bin Talha (RA) shared the common point of having embraced Islam together.
- Hazrat Jubbair Bin Mutaam (RA) led the funeral prayer of Hazrat Usman (RA).
- Hazrat Rafeh Bin Malik (RA)'s distinction was being the first Ansar to accept Islam.
